Target 730: Let's studying, how to read the newspaper.

A poll of New Hampshire residents shows that support for the president is hight and the majority is pleased with his management of the economy and the progress he has made against terrorism. There is still a vocal minority, however, that favors a more peaceful solution. The president has responded forcefully to recent incidents involving mail bombs and anthrax.

---76% approve of the president's strategies concerning foreign affairs, particularly the White House's attempts to negotiate new solutions in the Middle East
---72% approve of his response to the mail bomb threats
---70% approve of his handling of the economy
---58% favor the continued dispatch of ground troops into battle
---60% believe the United States will eventually destroy terrorist operations in Afghanistan.

From April 10-18, a random sample of 694 New Hampshire adults was taken through telephone interviews. There is a margin of error of ± 3.7 percent. The president approval is down somewhat from earlier in the year, but it still remains relatively high despite continued worries over growing unemployment.
