News: Robbery
A robbery occurred this morning at Liberty Federal Bank on High Street. Four men carrying automatic weapons entered the bank at 1:00 p.m. and demanded that tellers hand over all the money in their drawers. One of the tellers signaled the authorities by pressing a silent alarm button during the robbery, but the gang had cleared out by the time the police showed up on the scene. None of the customers or bank employees were harmed.
Police detectives asked the witnesses to stick around and provide testimony. Several reported that the leader of the gang was completely bald and another man had distinctive tattoos on his arms. All of the witnesses agreed to testify in court if the four are arrested and charges with armed robbery. The police are trying to figure out ways to create a faster response time to the bank alarm. The gang plotted to make sure their hold-up coincided with road construction in both directions on High and First, which made it difficult for police cares to maneuver around large cranes and heavy equipment. The gang obviously came up with this strategy to give them extra time to get away from the scene --- and they succeeded in escaping.
